What tools do I need to model railroad items?
Below are some of the tools that people use. This is not a complete list and some items are nice to have. Also not all of these tools are required to get started in model railroading and most are
not. These are the tools that modelers use when they work/play with their models.
Now if I can get these guys to agree on what just the basic tools are I will change the format on this page to show the basic tools, painting, scencery, building models in different sections as to
make it easier to find out which tools are right for you.
Also any reference to any make, brand or model of tool in not to be consider an indorsement.
Because of the size of the answer please chick the "What tools do I need" page.

What kind of drill bits do I need to use and how do you control the speed when drilling with a Dremel tool?
Becauseof the size of the answer please chick the "Drill Bits" page.by Fred D.
I have dimensions in Millimeters and all I have are Standard Inch size drill bits. Also I see these modifications that require some number or letter size drill that is not a millimeter. What size is the most correct size to use? The answer is the proper size required but if you want to come close to the real drill bit size you can cross reference the standard drill bit sizes by looking at the Drill Bit Cross reference page.

I just got a Dremel rotary tool to speed up the sanding process for my models. But when I used the sanding accessaries that came with the Dremel kit they take away too much plastic and sometimes
even melt the plastic. I used the lowest speed that they recommended in the manual.
Should I use more fine grit sandpaper accessories? What kind of Dremel accessory is suitable for fine sanding plastic and putty? Or is it just not made for fine sanding of plastic?
That depends read some of the hints on the Dremel tool page for suggestions and advice.
