Hey guys! Anyone out there know what I can use to clean my airbrush and normal brushes after I paint with enamels? I don't want to use hobby store paint thinners because they're too expensive and
I wanna save them to thin my paints for painting.
Go to your local autobody supply, there you can get acrylic enamel reducers for 1/10 th of the hobby shop costs... Usually sold in 1 qt. / Liter cans or 4 qt / liter cans
My wife buys the 2 oz.bottle of Decoart paint at the local "Buck or Two" for a Canadian dollar (that's about 2 cents US). It's great for painting scenery, buildings and lots of other stuff. If I use just a little she'll never know. Aren't wives great.
You got that part about being great right! And, NO, SWMBO is NOT looking over my shoulder as I type this; she's in the middle of her second 16 hour shift for the local Sherrif's Office. (Works 32 hours on the weekends as the county jail nurse; does 16 semester hours at UTEP during the week.)
When "natural earth tones" went out of style for makeup, she handed her excess to me; talk about something different to work with! Highlight different "moisture content" dirt or dab a little around the base of buildings where the "rain" splashed up some mud...
Fake eyelashes for individual weeds, or add a touch of paint/eyeliner/etc. to the tips and you have flowers.
FINE point paint brush and "glitter" nail polish to make YOUR signs truly YOURS; clean brush in, what else, finger nail polish remover! Just make sure you use it with VENTALATION! Acetone is flammable, so NO SMOKING. That stuff gives me a headache, so use caution.
For those of you uncomfortable with using finger nail polish on your models, Duncan "Scribbles" is also available in glitter and works almost as well. YMMV
