Getting Started in S scale

A. C. Gilbert the maker of American Flyer trains, shut done in the late 60's. Lionel purchased the name, but hasn't been really committed to S Gauge anymore. (rumors claim that this may change...)

But, there is a VERY thriving community of people who like S Gauge and keep it alive. There are many web sites that support S and a few manufacturers that make new S Gauge equipment that rivals anything Gilbert ever made.

The best support for old AF's can be found on the "S mailing list http://www.trainweb.org/s-trains/list/smail.htm

Old trains can be found at http://www.americanflyertrains.com/>

And if you want to check out the Official S organization, the National Association of S-Gaugers: http://trainweb.com/nasg/
